My journey from pain to purpose

I remember feeling so small in that doctor’s office. I didn’t have the words to make him understand, and the look in his eyes told me I was stuck. I was terrified I’d never find my way out of pain.

As a teenager, a perfect storm of events caused my health to spiral, leaving me mostly bed-bound for five years with a neurological disorder and severe chronic pain. The freedom and joy of moving without pain vanished overnight. That loss sparked a deep curiosity about the body’s innate capacity to heal and adapt—one that would eventually lead me to my life’s work.

Those years profoundly shaped who I am today. I lived the darkness and isolation that so often accompany chronic pain. I experienced firsthand where Western medicine falls short—how it tends to treat symptoms in isolation, rather than listening to the story the whole organism is expressing. After years of searching for answers and relief through both conventional and alternative therapies, a family friend referred me to an Occupational Therapist who practiced Myofascial Release. From that very first session, something shifted—not just in my pain, but in my awareness. For the first time in years, I had hope.

As my body slowly began to heal, I realized I had to relearn how to move without bracing. That’s when I discovered Pilates, working with a Physical Therapist who used it as a bridge back to functional, joyful movement. What was once a source of fear became a pathway to freedom.

My professional journey began with training in John Barnes Myofascial Release and Pilates, both of which gave me powerful tools to support healing. But something was still missing. As I continued working with clients—and deepened my own healing—I felt called toward a more holistic, nervous system-informed approach. This led me to the Somatic Experiencing® method and a deeper understanding of how trauma, pain, and protection are stored in the body—not just in the muscles or fascia, but in the physiology and our felt sense of safety.

Today, my work is rooted in somatic awareness and regulation. I support clients in reconnecting with their bodies from the inside out—gently unwinding tension, honoring protective patterns, and inviting a greater sense of ease, presence, and resilience. Whether through touch or movement, my intention is always to help people feel more at home in themselves.
